3M (TM) Cubitron (TM) ll abrasive belt 947A contains precision molded grain on a blended cloth X-backing. Our 974A abrasive belts have a resin bond for higher temperature resistance and are recommended for dry sanding. Use the 3M (TM) Cubitron (TM) ll cloth belt 947A for excellent results in a wide range of applications - from automatic sanding with high contact pressure to freehand sanding with low and medium contact pressure, on machines such as bench sanders, file belt sanders, straight and long belt sanders. Our abrasive belts in the 947A series contain precision-formed abrasive grains on an X-backing made of a cotton-polyester blend. The precision-molded grit forms triangular points that cut the metal rather than gouge or "plow through" like conventional abrasives. These points continuously sharpen themselves as they break, enabling extremely fast cutting - this reduces heat-induced stress cracking and discoloration. The abrasive produces a consistent finish throughout its life and helps to prevent burning when sanding end grain. The X-fabric backing provides durability and binds the abrasive mineral with synthetic resin for reliable performance even under high heat and pressure.
