The 3M (TM) Polyimide Insulating Tape 1205 is an insulating tape with a polyimide film carrier. This flame retardant tape is suitable for applications that require a thin insulating material for wrapping transformers, capacitors and cable harnesses. This tape can withstand a temperature range of 40 to 155 °C without losing its electrical properties or tensile strength. The 3M (TM) Polyimide Film 1205 is characterized above all by its extreme temperature resistance and very good dielectric properties. In conjunction with a solvent-resistant acrylate adhesive, it forms a powerful combination of mechanical, electrical, thermal and chemical properties, which remain stable in a temperature range from -40 °C to +155 °C. The insulating tape therefore belongs to insulating material class F. The 0.076 millimetre thin adhesive tape can withstand a breakdown voltage of 7,500 volts and is flame-retardant in accordance with UL 510, making the polyimide film particularly suitable for applications where it is exposed to high temperature fluctuations, especially for masking contacts when soldering circuit boards. As it is printable, it can also be used for cable bundling and labeling, among other things.
