With the 3M precision-formed grain, it offers a great combination of performance and value. In addition, this disc enables twice the stock removal rate and an equally long service life compared to conventional zirconium corundum abrasive discs. A particularly precise result can be achieved with the 120+ grit. An excellent choice for processing construction and stainless steel. The precision-formed ceramic grain contained in the flap disc enables exceptionally high stock removal with less contact pressure. This abrasive grain forms triangular points that cut the metal rather than rutting or "plowing through" it like conventional abrasives. Flap discs are three-dimensional grinding wheels consisting of overlapping, abrasive-coated, fiber-reinforced flaps that fan out from a central hub. As the overlapping layers of lamellae wear down, lamellae with fresh abrasive mineral are continuously exposed. This enables fast and even sanding and the padding of the flaps produces a homogeneous surface quality. Under normal conditions, our flap discs produce a finish that is one step finer than the finish of a fiber disc of the same quality. Their overlapping design allows more abrasive material to be applied to the cut surface, making them significantly superior to typical abrasive wheels. For this reason, our wheels enable a significant increase in productivity in sanding processes. They perform two tasks in a single step, grinding and finishing, and can therefore replace bonded abrasive and fiber discs.
