The preferred path of dissipation is between the heat generating components. In general, heat-distributing materials conduct thermal energy from one heat-generating component to another location where the heat can be dissipated via a heat-dissipating mechanism. The 3M adhesive tape 9876-10 is specifically designed to improve thermal conductivity in the X-Y direction to improve heat distribution. This makes it a solution to the limitations of existing products.
