The 3M Xtract (TM) Finish backing pad with slim design is made of soft density foam with a blunt 10 degree beveled edge. It is recommended for finishing flat or contoured surfaces. Part of the 3M Xtract (TM) series designed for optimal dust extraction. The backing pads allow an extraction unit to suck dust from a workpiece to improve tool life and productivity. Use this backing pad with 3M Xtract (TM) discs (sold separately) with 220 grit or higher. The soft density foam on the 3M Xtract (TM) sanding disc in a slim design provides additional conformability for a final finish where the workpiece has been previously leveled and refined with coarser grit abrasives on firm or medium backing pads. Using a dust extractor and a 3M Xtract sanding disc, the uniquely designed holes and channels draw dust away from the sanding surface, preventing the disc from clogging, increasing productivity and ensuring a cleaner working environment. The sanding disc has external threads that are compatible with an orbital or random orbital sander. Our patented multihole perforation, together with an extraction system, ensures that dust is removed from the disc, the workpiece and the air. When dust cannot clog the cutting edge of the abrasives, sanding paper discs provide stronger and faster stock removal. The 3M Xtract discs are designed for optimal dust extraction, so reducing the amount of dust is now easier than ever. Use this disc together with a 3M Xtract backing pad and a random orbital sander with dust extraction (both sold separately) to ensure optimal dust extraction. The patented multi-hole perforation on our 3M Xtract products removes dust faster than products with five or six holes. This hole design does not even need to be aligned with the holes of the backing pad (which attaches to the random orbital sander and is sold separately). This allows for quick and easy disk changes. The 3M (TM) Hookit (TM) quick change system has a hook and loop attachment that makes disc changes quick and easy. All this ensures higher productivity and lower material consumption. By reducing the amount of dust, the removal efficiency and service life of the disc is significantly increased. This ultimately reduces operating costs.
