Adhesive tape for masking during chrome plating as protection against budding and as radiation protection and for marking in X-ray technology. 3M (TM) Lead Tape 420 is a silver, lead-based tape coated with a distinctive green rubber-resin adhesive that provides good initial tack and long-lasting adhesion that peels cleanly for most surfaces. It is an extremely conformable and pliable tape that can be molded into detailed and intricate shapes and patterns. The lead backing material can be burnished to fully cover the adhesive and allow full contact of the lead foil with the metal backing. This metal-to-metal contact results in a continuation of the electrical conduction path and reduces buildup at the bond site. The tape is formulated to be electrically and thermally conductive with strong acid and base resistance, making it ideal for electroplating or as a radiation shield.
