Required for professional and quick wear testing of the dual-mass flywheel (DMF) with the clutch removed, the test can be carried out on the vehicle. The clearance angle is checked using the number of teeth or degree disc (rotation of the secondary disc relative to the primary disc until spring pressure is applied) and the tilt play is checked using a dial gauge (axial bearing play). The dual-mass flywheel must be tested every time the clutch is replaced. Without testing, there is a risk of damage to the new clutch unit, gearbox or drive train.
