PFERD offers a wide range of coated abrasive tools for processing different workpiece geometries and materials. They consist of a backing material, a base bond and a top bond for fixing the abrasive grains. Depending on the grit size, a high material removal rate or a very fine surface finish can be achieved with tools made from coated abrasives. The available backing materials differ in their properties such as tear resistance, flexibility and wear. The choice of a suitable backing adapts the sanding tool to the requirements of the intended application: Paper is found in the woodworking industry and in skilled trades, e.g. carpenters, painters and varnishers, fabric is mainly used in metalworking, and vulcanized fibre is very wear-resistant and is mainly used in various thicknesses for the manufacture of fibre sanders. The set contains three flap discs of the aluminium oxide A version with a shaft diameter of 3 mm in grit sizes 80, 120 and 180. The flaps of flap discs are made of abrasive on a backing and are arranged radially around the axis of the tool in a fan shape. Thanks to their flexibility, they adapt perfectly to the contours of the workpiece. The abrasive grain is embedded in a synthetic resin bond on the tension-resistant, flexible cloth backing.
